PERSONAL PROJECT NOTES
Meshtastic & LoRa Radio Projects
Welcome to my Meshtastic project hub—a collection of radio builds, monitoring tools, and everyday carry setups from Code3 Caffeine.
This is where I’m documenting the practical side of my projects: putting devices to use, trying different setups, and sharing what works, what needs improvement, and what I learn along the way. My focus is on useful field tools, everyday communications, and exploring where mesh radio fits into emergency preparedness.
Each project will have its own dedicated tab with updates, photos, configuration notes, and lessons learned. Whether you’re working on a similar setup or just exploring Meshtastic and LoRa, these pages will give you a look at my projects as they develop.
MeshMonitor — Meshtoad V3 This section follows my use of the Meshtoad V3 with MeshMonitor, bringing the radio and monitoring side of the project together in one place.
The goal is to document how I use the setup, the changes I make, and what I learn from watching activity over time. Rather than presenting a finished configuration, this page will serve as an evolving project log.
Planned updates include:
Meshtoad V3 setup and configuration notes.
How I’m using the device with MeshMonitor.
Screenshots and observations from the monitoring interface.
Antenna, placement, and configuration experiments.
Troubleshooting notes and lessons learned.
SquatchWatch — LilyGO T-Deck Plus SquatchWatch is my project centered on the LilyGO T-Deck Plus. This section will follow the setup as it develops, from configuration and interface changes to practical use in the field.
The focus is on documenting my version of the project: how I configure it, how I use it, and which changes make it more useful for my needs.
Planned updates include:
An introduction to my SquatchWatch setup.
T-Deck Plus configuration and project changes.
Photos, interface walkthroughs, and demonstrations.
Field-use observations and testing notes.
Issues, fixes, and ideas for future improvements.
Daily Carries — ThinkNode M1 & Seeed Studio T1000-E The ThinkNode M1 and Seeed Studio T1000-E are my daily-carry Meshtastic devices. This section is about using them outside a dedicated test setup and documenting how they fit into my normal routine.
Rather than focusing only on specifications, I’ll share the practical details: how I carry them, how I configure them, and what I notice through regular use.
Planned updates include:
My everyday carry configurations and accessories.
Charging routines and battery-life observations.
Carry placement and usability notes.
Communication and coverage observations from day-to-day use.
Side-by-side impressions of the two devices.
An Ongoing Project Log These pages are intended to grow with the projects—not just show the finished result. I’ll be sharing the adjustments, experiments, and occasional dead ends alongside the successful setups.
Any range, battery-life, or reliability results I publish will describe my own setup and testing conditions, rather than serve as a promise of what another installation will achieve.
The goal is straightforward: build useful tools, put them to work, and document the process.
Personal experience. External software, hardware and resources retain their respective ownership.
